The Grants for the Arts Libraries fund invests National Lottery money in projects delivered by public libraries or library authorities working in partnership with artists and cultural organisations across all art forms

The fund aims to inspire innovative partnerships between libraries and art organisations.

It is hoped that this second phase of funding, which is rolled out between, will once again inspire ambitious, innovative partnerships between libraries and art organisations and encourage library and those living locally to take part in artistic and cultural activities.


The lead applicant must be a:

  • public library
  • public library authority
  • network of public library authorities
  • an organisation managing a public library as defined under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964

Public libraries can apply for grants of between  £1,000 and £100,000 covering activities lasting up to three years.

The fund opened on 1 April 2015 and will run until 31 March 2018.
