Connecting businesses to accelerate innovation
What is it?

The Food Innovation Network (FIN) is a virtual community of organisations, big and small, all of whom are looking for opportunities, partners, processes and ideas to help them make their food innovation ideas a reality, fuel the growth of their business and form new partnerships. FIN’s aim is to help improve the competitiveness of food and drink businesses right across the supply chain. FIN seeks to do this by:

Helping increase collaboration and partnership between businesses and research organisations
Providing support to help innovation happen, particularly for SMEs
Joining up R&D and innovation across the whole food system.

Who is involved?

Businesses both large and small, research organisations, innovation enablers, providers and demonstrators. It is Government sponsored by DEFRA and BBSRC.

How does it work?

At the heart of FIN is this web portal which connects members and helps them search for information on potential partners who can help them develop their ideas.

This website also lists new funding opportunities and supplies a toolkit of resources, including model IP agreements, an overview of the UK R&D funding landscape and a series of user-generated hot topics. There is also a FIN coordinator, Simon Baty, who is here to work with individual businesses to provide help and advice.
