The LEADER project aims to improve the competitiveness and diversification of the farming and forestry industry, whilst supporting small businesses, creating growth and boosting productivity in rural communities.

The scheme can support projects that:

  • Increase farm productivity
  • Support for micro and small businesses (non-agricultural) and farm diversification
  • Boost rural tourism
  • Provide rural services
  • Provide cultural and heritage activity
  • Increase forestry productivity

Businesses must be located within the Cambridgeshire Fens LEADER area, which includes rural areas of Ely, March, Littleport, Doddington, Somersham, Haddenham and more. You can view a map of the area here to be certain.

To apply for funding, businesses must complete a short pre-application form, and if your project is eligible for funding you will be asked to complete a full application form.

You can find out more by visiting the Cambridgeshire Fens LEADER website (see link in top right hand corner).

The LEADER scheme, part of the Rural Development Programme for England, is jointly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
