LEADER funding programme launches

Launched today (Wednesday 25th November 2015), the LEADER project aims to improve the competitiveness and diversification of the farming and forestry industry, whilst supporting small businesses, creating growth and boosting productivity in rural communities.

The scheme can support projects that:

  • Increase farm productivity
  • Support for micro and small businesses (non-agricultural) and farm diversification
  • Boost rural tourism
  • Provide rural services
  • Provide cultural and heritage activity
  • Increase forestry productivity

Businesses must be located within the Peterborough and Rutland LEADER area, which includes rural areas of Peterborough, Rutland, Yaxley, and Farcet.

The LEADER scheme is part of the Rural Development Programme for England, and jointly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

It will be delivered by Opportunity Peterborough thanks to a successful bid by their team and Rutland County Council.
