Huntingdon-based automotive testing business receives grant for growth

A successful automotive testing company in Huntingdon has been awarded £7,100 to help them purchase a Universal Test Machine for testing a wide range of the products and services they offer.

Encocam provides services that span across a large range of industries from energy absorption, safety testing solutions, composite panels, a range of manufacturing and engineering services, and various others.

The grant, provided by Signpost 2 Grants from Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership, will support Encocam’s recent move into the field of Anthropomorphic Test Devices (crash test dummies) and help development within this field.

The purchase of this equipment will improve turnaround times for testing and enhance customer service, as tests will be more reliable with a faster turnaround. The grant will also create a new, full-time job.

Neil Darwin, Chief Executive of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership, said:

“We are pleased to be able to support ambitious companies within Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough. For Encocam to be able to take this grant and invest it to the point where they can compete with US organisations both in terms of service delivered and customer service quality is great for the company and for the innovation and potential of the GCGP area.

“Aiding and supporting jobs creation where possible is an important role of the LEP. Signpost 2 Grants places importance on the creation of jobs, so for Encocam to create a full-time role from the investment of the grant is in-line with the wider economic goals for the region, and will hopefully encourage other businesses to apply for grants and create jobs when they see how other organisations are innovating.”
