King's Lynn businesses are being urged to tackle Cyber Crime to ensure they don't become a target with expert help at a free event taking place on 15th November.
Signpost 2 Grow is working with Barclays and Norfolk Police to deliver a special free event to show local businesses how to protect themselves against the ever growing cyber security event they all face.
Binal Cadieu, Signpost 2 Grow’s Project Manager, explains:
“We know that businesses of all shapes and sizes are coming under threat from Cyber Security attacks, but they aren’t quite sure how to tackle this unseen risk. That’s why we have brought together experts from Barclays Bank and Norfolk Police to give local businesses a chance to find out more about what the most common threats to their businesses are, and how they can take action to tackle them before an attack takes place. The event is free to attend, but places must be booked in advance to secure a spot.”
The practical workshop includes a talk from Joe Cooksey, one of Barclays’ Business Digital Eagles, who will show just how easy it is for criminals to attack a business, and then teach businesses how to prevent invoice fraud and counter common cyber attacks. Paul Markell, from Norfolk Police’s Cyber and Serious Cyber Crime Directorate, will then tell businesses how the Police are tackling cyber crime, including the wide range of risks local businesses face.
Joe Cooksey, Business Digital Eagle for Barclays said: “We regularly hear from our business customers that there has been cyber fraud attempts made against them and unfortunately some of these have been successful. These scams are becoming increasingly convincing but there are simple precautions businesses can take to reduce the risk.
This Cyber Security workshop will provide an overview of the current cybercrime landscape and advice on the steps people can take to protect themselves and their businesses.”
The event, which will be held at King’s Lynn Innovation Centre (KLIC) is free for local businesses to attend, but places are going fast and must be booked in advance. Secure your spot by visiting: http://signpost2grow.co.uk/events/cyber-security-workshop-protect-business-cybercrime/
The event is organised by Signpost 2 Grow, the free signposting service that connects local businesses with the help, advice and funding they need to grow. It is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
